Dr. Julian Herskowitz has been a practicing clinical psychologist for over 30 years and has directed the largest and most successful branch of the only national anxiety and phobia treatment center in the country, TERRAP Anxiety and Phobia Care.
Dr. Herskowitz has treated thousands of patients with complex anxiety and fears as well as other related and unrelated problems. His methods and techniques encompass all modalities including cognitive behavior therapy, emotional reeducation, expressive techniques, and other research-based interventions that are all designed to empower the individual with strategies and methods so they no longer feel like a victim to excessive anxiety, worry, or fear.
Dr. Herskowitz is passionate about helping individuals recover from all types of anxiety and other disorders. He truly believes that with effective therapeutic tools, recovery from anxiety is possible, and a happier, more productive life can be achieved and maintained.
Dr. Herskowitz maintains a full-time private practice with offices throughout Long Island, NY. He is a member of the American Psychological Association and has been awarded Diplomate status by the American Academy of Behavioral Medicine. In recognition of his expertise in the field, Dr. Herskowitz has been featured on TV shows such as Geraldo, Sally Jesse Raphael, and Best Talk in Town and has been frequently quoted on Web MD, Newsday, and other media.
Bernadette Francos is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who began her affiliation with TERRAP in 1986. At that time she was suffering from debilitating panic attacks which began at the age of 14. After going through the 18 week program with TERRAP, she became a paraprofessional group assistant in addition to providing home visits to housebound agoraphobics. After her own recovery from panic disorder she went back to school and graduated from the Adelphi School of Social Work. As well as treating hundreds of clients, Ms. Francos has been the Clinical Coordinator for the TERRAP program since 1990. She has extensive experience in treating the full range of anxiety disorders in both individual and group settings. In addition to her expertise in anxiety disorders, Ms. Francos has a special interest in a variety of women's issues including mood and hormonal disorders and relationship issues. Ms. Francos also works with the family members of her clients to provide them with the education and techniques to best help and support their loved ones on their road to recovery. She has found that positive involvement of family members can expedite her clients recovery. She has appeared on television specials as both a suffer of panic disorder, as well as an acknowledged professional who successfully treats the entire spectrum of anxiety disorders. She has also appeared in Newsday articles featuring anxiety disorders. Ms. Francos maintains an office in Huntington as well as Stonybrook. Nicholas Forlenza, PhD: After receiving his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from St. John’s University, Dr. Forlenza has worked with diverse populations in both inpatient and outpatient settings. In addition to being one of TERRAP's finest child and adolescent psychologists, he also is the unit head for the Child and Adolescent Unit at Nassau University Medical Center. He has worked extensively to help children and adolescents develop coping skills, building on existing strengths to address interpersonal problems, and learn to better manage moods and excessive fears. Dr. Forlenza also treats adults with anxiety and mood disorders using the Cognitive-Behavioral interventions that are considered most effective. He brings a warm, easy going, genuine and highly professional approach to his work that has earned him high praise from the community of TERRAP patients.
Jennifer Zodan, Ph.D., received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi University, considered one of the country's finest and most prestigious training institutes. Her breadth of experience includes work at Sagamore Children’s Psychiatric Center, inpatient and outpatient individual and group therapy at Nassau University Medical Center, and a variety of other clinical, assessment, and research positions.
Dr. Zodan has extensive training in conducting individual, group, couples and family therapy with both inpatient and outpatient children, adolescents, and adults. She has also been trained in psychological assessment, including both cognitive and personality functioning.
Her approach to therapy is rooted in relational psychodynamic theory, and she frequently employs a variety of cognitive and behavioral techniques, depending on the individual needs of her patients. It is this inclusive and integrative perspective that affords Dr. Zodan the ability to adapt to each situation and foster a comfortable and productive therapy environment with a wide variety of patients.

Katherine DeMeo Kusterer, PhD receieved her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Long Island University and her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Georgetown University. Katherine has worked extensively with early adolescents, adolescents, adults, and families and her clinical experience includes work in both inpatient and outpatient mental health settings. She has also been trained in psychological assessment. She approaches therapy from a psychodynamic perspective though she frequently utilizes cognitive and behavioral techniques in response to the needs of the individual. Katherine believes it is important to foster a comfortable environment in which the individual is an active collaborator in the therapeutic relationship.
